Plastic Evaporative Cooling Pads

There has been a significant amount of interest over the years about using plastic evaporative cooling pads instead of the traditional 6" paper pads.  It is thought that a plastic pad would last longer and hold up better to pressure washing paper pads.  In the past the problem with plastic pad is designing them so that they easily "wet out" and produce the same level of cooling as paper pads.  Recently a plastic pad has been developed that appears to have similar cooling and static pressure characteristics as paper pads.  A 40' X 500' broiler house house will be equipped with the new pads in the Spring of 2011 and performance will be evaluated over the course of the summer.
