Tunnel Fan Comparison Spreadsheet 2014 – Metric
- This spreadsheet allows the user to compare different tunnel fans: the number required, air speed produced, and yearly electricity usage.
Input:
- House length (m)
- House width (m)
- Open ceiling/dropped ceiling
- Electricity rate
- Minimum tunnel fan capacity (typically between 9 and 11 cfm/ft2)
- Estimated tunnel fan operating hours
- Air moving capacities... of fans you want to compare (@ static pressure of 0.05" - 0.20")
- Energy efficiency rating of fans you want to compare (@ static pressure of 0.10")
- Desired tunnel velocity (ft/min)
- Initial price of fan
Outputs:
- Air speed in the house (m/sec and ft/min)
- Number of each type of fan inputted required
- Air moving capcity of each fan at expected static pressure (cfm/cmh)
- Total air moving capacity (cfm/cmh)
- Air flow ratio of fan inputted
- Yearly power usage for each of the fans inputted
- Theoretical windchill effect produced (F/C)
- Number of tunnel fans required are based of the expectant static pressure at the desired air speed
- 500 ft/min/2.5 m/sec = 0.10"
- 600 ft/min/3 m/sec = 0.15"
- Over 725 ft/min/3.63 m/sec = 0.20.
- 5 and 10 year operating costs
